Database Administrator

Report to : IT Manager

Direct Reports : N/A

Purpose

To maintain the integrity of client data through regular administrative and maintenance tasks as well as catering for growth of client data through continuous enhancement activities.  The role also involves maintaining upstream and downstream integration between the servers and other systems.

Responsibilities

  • Database installation (or Deployment in Cloud), upgrade and patching
  • Create models for new database development or changes to existing ones
  • Parameter and configure relevant network components
  • Ensure database access, consistency and integrity
  • Plan and coordinate data migrations
  • Implement database encryption and data encryption
  • Plan and ensure compliance with established best practices, related policies and legislation
  • Establish end-user database access control levels
  • Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors.
  • Troubleshoot Server database and services outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends.
  • Manage business requests within (Service Level Agreement) SLA time-frames.
  • Configure database monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms.
  • Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
  • Test backups to ensure the business is able to meet Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Provide reporting on various metrics including availability, usage and performance
  • Performance testing and benchmark activities
  • When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including (hardware purchases – NA AWS), server configuration changes, or index/query changes and advise management to action.
  • Monitor, flag and report any problems to relevant technical specialists.
  • Write incident reports on problems and ensure all relevant stakeholders are informed.
  • Document system, policies and processes
  • Maintain awareness of the control framework.
  • Provide ad hoc reports in line with stakeholder requests

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Graduate in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline;

  • 3 to 5 years relevant working knowledge & experience in database (DB) management software for PostgreSQL, SQLite, and any other, DB architecture, and DB security.
  • Experience with cloud services AWS.

Purpose

Primarily responsible for assessing the quality and fit for purpose of the developed codes/applications/ programs.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing users stories and/use cases/requirements for validity and feasibility.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members and departments to develop effective strategies and test plans.
  • Execute all levels of testing (System, Integration, and Regression) and analyze results.
  • Design and develop automation scripts where required.
  • Detect and track software defects and inconsistencies.
  • Provide timely solutions.
  • Apply quality engineering principals throughout the Agile product lifecycle.
  • Provide support and documentation.
  • Reviewing and analyzing system specifications.

Technical Writer

Purpose

The primary responsibility is to document the company’s technical information including software developmental documentation, workflows, coding processes, user manuals etc

Responsibilities

  • Determine the needs of users of technical documentation.
  • Study product samples and talk with product designers and developers.
  • Work with technical staff to make products and instructions easier to use.
  • Write or revise supporting content for products.
  • Edit material prepared by other writers or staff.
  • Standardize content across platforms and media.
  • Collect user feedback to update and improve content.
  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides.
  • Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
  • Create and maintain the information architecture.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the audience and the documentation required by meeting with colleagues, and working with managers to discuss technical problems.

IT Projects Manager

Report to : Managing Director

Purpose

The primary role is to scope, plan, and monitor the qualitative and timely execution of IT projects at Metajua.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the business case into a practical, functional plan.
  • Facilitate meetings to obtain agreement regarding responsibilities and time-lines encompassing risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
  • Co-ordinate a strong project team and manage the implementation of the plan.
  • Facilitate the development of the project planning and execution documentation.
  • Manage changes in project scope.
  • Co-ordinate performance of project teams with a strong focus on ensuring timely, quality delivery at every level of the project cycle including design specifications, planning, development, project lead and quality assurance.
  • Engage with individuals and teams throughout the project life-cycle to set and achieve buy-in to agreed objectives, monitor project progress and communicate updates, critical insights and key findings.
  • Facilitate periodic/monthly meetings to prioritise new projects and provide feedback on existing projects.
  • Manage project budgets
  • Stakeholder engagement: Liaise with key stakeholders to track progress on tasks, manage expectations and ensure clients’ needs are met.

Purpose

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the office desk: receiving visitors and or calls, providing required information and or redirecting to correct office.

Client Relationship Manager

Purpose

The primary role is to identify new clients, conduct needs assessments, onboard clients and ensure post on boarding support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for client acquisition in line with Metajua strategy.
  • Plan meetings with clients to determine their needs.
  • Liaise with MD, IT Projects Manager and IT Manager to determine viability, cost and timelines to meet clients’ needs.
  • Agree with clients on products to be acquired.
  • Build client pipeline and follow leads till contract signature.
  • Establish triage of lead at various stage of the relation to retain only valuable target.
  • Make product demonstration.
  • Establish client need and evaluate match with standard product offer and customization needs.
  • Realize high level user requirement.
  • Write financial proposal.
  • Conduct negotiations to reach deal.
  • Draft Contracts, liaise with Legal for contract review and follow up with the clients for sign off.
  • Coordinate with IT Manager and IT Projects Manager for client product development.
  • Deploy products and respective manuals with clients.
  • Schedule meetings and calls with clients to obtain feedback on products.
  • Regularly communicate queries and complaints/ areas of improvement from clients to IT project Manager and IT manager.
  • Facilitate product manual revisions.
  • Ensure provision of user trainings to clients.
  • Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports, focusing on all aspects of sound people management: recruitment, performance management, career pathing, on job training etc

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Graduate in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a Relationship Management / Sales of software solutions to business.
  • Experience in working in Agriculture related ICT projects and demonstrating an interest for rural enterprises is an added advantage.

Accountant

Reports to : Finance Manager

Purpose

Primarily responsible for bookkeeping, payables and receivables and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate bookkeeping in QuickBooks.
  • Invoice and follow up on payments from clients.
  • Prepare timely payments for suppliers.
  • Receive accountability for petty cash use.
  • Remit timely salary payments as per schedule provided by Office Administrator.
  • Prepare cash collection and banking reports.
  • Conduct reconciliations for petty cash, receivables, creditors, and bank and supplier statements.
  • Filing of monthly returns (PAYE, NSSF, VAT, WHT) and annual income tax and Directors returns.
  • File and maintain accounting documents.
  • Maintain an up to date fixed asset register.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of accounts for audit.
  • Participate in stock taking.
  • Keep track of Amazone and other costs in excel tracking.
  • Any other duty that can be assigned by the immediate supervisor in relation to the above tasks.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A second upper Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Studies, Business Management and other Accounting Related Courses from a recognised University with at least CPA level 11.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role working with a reputable organisation.
  • Knowledge in processing accounts payable/receivable, sub-ledger and general ledger entries and reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of computer accounting software systems; (knowledge of Quick Books is an added advantage).
  • Essential Microsoft Excel skills is an added advantage.
